Innovative Net Systems designed and built the very first Push Trawls which are now in use across the USA for shallow water study. These versatile nets replace many seining and fyke net operations.
Originally known as Chop Stick Trawls, these nets were used in coastal waters for shrimp harvest in the 1970's. Our new design of polyester, small mesh trawl was first used by the USFWS Columbia FRO station. These nets have produced catches so great in number that many researchers have to reduce trawling times to limit their samples.
The USFWS in Columbia, Mo. has worked dilligently with our shop to produce a viable frame work to compliment the different styles of Push Trawls. 2 research scientists, Jeff Finley and Wyatt Doyle have done the most work with this gear.
