ATAF's site, www.adoptatmosphere.com, gets an overhaul.
Since early 2005, the Adopt the Atmosphere Foundation (ATAF) has been operating with a website designed, literally, by 9th and 10th graders. Nathan Mesner and his younger brother Chris designed the site for their uncle, an ATAF employee at the time, during their December, 2004 winter break from school.
"From what I can gather, the HTML-based site has done what it was designed to do", said ATAF's new Webmaster and Web designer, Conrad Davis. "Those kid's design and architecture actually functioned through the processing of over 9,000 transactions!", Mr Davis added.
Although the current site has been effective and can still be viewed at www.adoptatmosphere.com, ATAF has decided to upgrade.
"On October 1, 2007, we plan to launch a completely new .PHP-based site", stated Mr.Davis. "There are just some design aspects that we can achieve in other web languages that we just can't pull off in HTML.", he said.
Mr Conrad noted that the new site will have a complete new look and feel and will include a site-search tool, a blog, an integrated shopping cart for the ATAF store, and access to many down-loadable .pdf format files.
In conclusion, Mr. Davis stated, "We hope that we will design a platform that can be used and adapted for many years to come."
