Successful candidate will serve as a member of the CSEDS and NSCC facility Test Operation group and daily tasks and responsibilities will center on the facility daily test operations schedule. Specifically, candidate will provide switching and configuration support during engineering baseline testing to ensure customer usage requirements on various baseline configurations and special project evolutions are met. Tasks will include, but not limited to: Modifying Switching system to support multiple baseline testing. Provide direct configuration support to baseline testing engineers. Initiate and tracking of troubleshooting efforts of staff maintenance personnel. Integrate new switching requirements from engineering drawings and documents. Assist members of the engineering staff in supports of all testing evolution and support of staff personnel configuration documentation applicable to equipment & cable configurations, firmware settings, equipment utilization metrics, equipment status, etc. Utilize facility hotline process to track and assign technical support for the prompt investigation and resolution of all equipment failures. Record and track issues (equipment failures trends, etc.) that may affect operational efficiency. A Basic knowledge of UNIX and networking fundamentals preferred.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Engineering Technology coupled with 2 years experience in the engineering and baseline testing operation of complex large scale computer equipment, advanced US Navy display systems and related ancillary equipment (e.g. AN/UYQ-70, COTS, etc.). Significant operational (shipboard) and configuration (program loading, equipment setup, and configuration switching) experience and/or military/civilian technical training related to this position may be considered in lieu of undergraduate degree. Successful candidate must be familiar with equipment loading and testing practices and principles coupled with documented experience in a large scale systems operational/engineering environment. Possess a working knowledge of LAN technology coupled with the ability to understand UNIX based program commands and LAN network theory to assist in the analysis, isolation of equipment failures. In addition to technical competence, successful candidate must be a team player with excellent verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical members of the engineering/management staff and personnel assigned to related work centers. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Successful candidate must be willing to work overtime and shift work (including weekends) as directed by immediate manager. Candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility for access to classified information.
Desired Qualifications
Three (3) to five (5) years experience configuring, testing and equipment setup of the latest Aegis baseline configuration systems (e.g. B/L6p3, B/L7p1, and BMD) or in an engineering development environment. Knowledge of Aegis system equipment elements and operational enhancements (e.g. CEC, BFTT, JMCIS, TBMD, TAC-3, TAC-4). Documented experience with and/or training in SOLARIS 9, (including essentials for system maintenance and/or system admin).
