Description

Financial Analyst II

Work Location: 11505 West Dodge Road
Reports to: Director of Finance - M. Rieschl
Pay Range: Min: $48,125, Mid: $60,156
Work Days: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

The purpose of this position is to provide financial support and analysis for the Omaha system. Specific duties include providing analytical support for business planning and analysis initiatives including the budgeting/ forecasting process, financial reporting, income statement and balance sheet analysis, property reporting; develop and implement PC schedules to support this analysis; develop PC programs to automate manual systems; maintain knowledge of PC hardware and software enhancements; and perform related work as required.

Core Responsibilities:
`Participates in the forecasts and budgets by developing equivalent revenue and direct cost rates for budget development, preparing selected budget schedules, and entering/verifying data in Budget models and related PC spreadsheets.
`Participates in forecast/budget discussions with executive management, offer suggestions for improvements to processes, and/or revenue improvements and expenses reductions; make recommendations to corporate budget staff for improvements to budget models and processes.
`Analyzes financial statements to ensure results are accurately stated, researches inconsistencies caused by both local and corporate input, and participates on monthly pre-close conference call with corporate accountants.
`Reviews direct cost vendor invoices, analyzes for appropriateness, and resolves differences directly with vendors.
`Creates, tests, distributes and tracks financial models and reports on a monthly basis (such as a rate-volume analysis) relating to revenues/expenses/capitals for explaining variances to forecast/budget and as assistance in preparing succeeding budgets.
`Recommends and implements changes; analyzes and reviews submitted data and resolves questions and/or problems.
`Determines the need for, calculates, and enters month end journal entries in accordance with GAAP and industry guidelines.
`Reviews revenue and direct costs and respond to audit inquiries.
`Performs ad-hoc analysis to provide management with information needed for business case decision making, using appropriate financial principles.
`Performs analysis to determine profitability of potential large customers (CBS primarily).
`Creates end user data base queries to uncover customer account inconsistencies, refers to appropriate departments for resolution, and follows-up to ensure corrections are made and to obtain customer data for input to various reports.
`Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
`Working knowledge of a mainframe PC interfaces.
`Detailed analytical database background supported by excellent computer skills, including Excel, Power Point, Discoverer, and data base applications. Oracle and Hyperion/Essbase knowledge a plus.
`Strong interpersonal skills needed for interaction with all levels of management.
`Excellent verbal and written communications skills needed to express findings to all levels of employees; from entry level clerical to executive management, and to corporate staff.
`Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
`Ability to prioritize work schedule to meet deadlines.
`Proven ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
`Ability to perform under short time-frames and in stressful circumstances.
`Demonstrates leadership qualities.
`Understanding of GAAP.
`Understands internal controls and displays audit competency.
`Strong financial planning skills.

Education and Experience:
`Bachelor¿s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
`Three plus years experience in accounting or finance required; telecommunications, carrier relations, or related field a plus.
`Knowledge of the Cable TV and Telephony industries preferred.

Physical Requirements:
`Dexterity to operate a personal computer.
`See well enough to read small print in manuals and various financial documents.
`Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
