Precis:
As an advocate for social justice [for the human/civil suffrage of the 'insane' and for all things-just] I eschew all violence, say-so here. I renounce all implication as from Malcolm X [who at one point took psychotropics; whose mother died in "asylum"] that the necessary-means to justice ever requires violence.
Those familiar with the mayhem by mental health consumers at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007, and by the mayhem at Northern Illinois University on February 15, 2008-- need to know that [ever-misguided] rationalization exists in perpetrators of violence that their cause is right-- is just-- while I would posit that this is NEVER so-- that any thought of violence reflects [social] derangement.
I term the philosophy of consumer Malcolm to be of the "NPN"-- no-payment-necessary variety on the basis of his economic policy that "nobody will pay the rent" [see By Any Means Necessary: Speeches , Interviews, and a Letter by Malcolm X, Pathfinder, New York, New York, 1989 (1970), page 9]; I in turn am "PNP"--" pay necessary price" -- on the basis of deeper reading of the provenance of such phraseology from Sartre's Dirty Hands play, and then from provenance in Dostoevski's Crime and Punishment novel-- in which the yen to violence/mayhem is seen as the soul of mental-illness.
[Please connnect to the position-statement in the attached PDF, openable as a ZIP file, upper right: this will explain in some detail my non-violent-non-cooperation-with-evil thesis.]
Savants may know that electronic circuits are models for logic-- and that NPN and PNP are both types of transistor-- devices that amplify. By convolution-- to the Cross or to the revulsion-to-living-by-gun-dying-by-gun-- both Malcolm and I have place [vernon little i; Malcolm X (African-name by insult-social unknown)] have something to offer social justice. We both want to vote [state our 'consumer preference,' Latin: vota]; with me as child-of-God-servant-of-servants-- this implies the noble-quality-- not the entitlement of nobility-- of noblesse oblige-- being kind to the angry and insulted-- to listen to these Malcolms who will not want stilled-mind. Malcolm calls such Christian-Gandhianism a "criminal philosophy." OK. I accept my criminality: I shall go to the Cross for it if necessary-- "I am willing to pay the necessary price" for vote, for social justice.
