Description
The idea of this project is to reuse an old phone and shoe to make a nifty device that will make a shoe ring whenever someone calls your phone line.

I began by using a box cutter to make a square hole in the back of the shoe into which I installed a female RJ11 phone connection. I attached a small speaker to the wires coming off the RJ11 connection inside the shoe. I placed the speaker in the toe area of the shoe and ran the wire under the bottom pad. Thats pretty much it for the shoe component.

Next I found an old corded speaker-phone. This one was already taken apart, so I first used some wire to tie down the phone hook. This is impotant to do otherwise your line will always be off-hook. Next, I located the pinouts for the speaker. These were connected to another female RJ11 jack.

The case for this project was made out of a DHL shipping box I obtained for free from the DHL site. I cut it down to the size I needed and fit everything inside. Once I secured the phone to the inside of the box, I created 2 holes in one end to mount the speaker RJ11 jack and the phone line RJ11 jack. I used hot glue to secure the jacks to the box. I taped the box closed and printed labels for the jacks as well as a logo for the top of the box. With this design, you can place the large box out of sight and run a phone cord to your shoe wherever you want.

To test it, I placed a regular phone cord between the speaker RJ11 jack (I call it the "ShoeLine") and the shoe. Then just placed a phone cord between the box and the wall. I called the line from my cell phone and it worked great. I hope you enjoy the project.
